Franc (Feri) Novak (Murska Sobota, 1906 – Sračinec, 1959), architect and planner. After studying at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna, he studied planning in Paris and at the College of Technology in Vienna (today’s Vienna University of Technology). From 1934 to 1938 and from 1945 to 1950 he served as municipal and district architect and town planner in Murska Sobota, and then joined the planning office in Maribor. One of the most important representatives of functionalist architecture and town planning in Slovenia, he also designed internal fixtures and public and funerary statuary. Most of Novak’s buildings are in Murska Sobota.
