The Holy Trinity Chapel in Lendavske Gorice was built in 1728. It is famous for containing the mummified corpse of Mihály Hadik, who died in 1733. His body was placed in the airy crypt of the chapel, which stands on high ground, and did not decompose. The body naturally mummified in this limestone-rich environment. The mummy is undamaged and desiccated and shows no traces of embalming. A local legend has it that the deceased man was an army captain called Mihael Hadik, one of the famous heroes of the battles against the Ottoman Turks who took part in the defence of Lendava Castle in 1603, but in reality it is not the same person.
