St. Anne church in Nick

1776.

The church was built by Lazar Niczky in 1776. The top has wood shingle, the floor is made of stone. It was dedicated in honor of St. Nicholas. The two side altars were erected in honor of St. Anne and St. Rosalie. One of its crypts belongs to the Niczky family, the other to the Kisfaludy family. The church attendance records from 1836 lists St. Anne as the second patron saint. The roof of the church was destroyed in a fire on September 2, 1867. The church roof and the tower were restored in their present form. The interior is decorated with frescoes by Steffek Albin. Its colored glass windows were made in 1986-87, by Zoltán Mohay and Zoltán Závori.

Specialist description

A plébániatemplomot szilárd anyagokból - elsősorban téglából - építtette fel Niczky Lázár 1776-ban. A teteje akkor fazsindely volt, padozata kő. Szent Miklós tiszteletére szentelték fel, mint a korábbi, középkori templomot. A két mellékoltár Szent Anna és Szent Rozália tiszteletére lett állítva. Egyik kriptája A Niczky családé, a másik a Kisfaludyaké. Szent Miklós mellett az 1836-os egyházlátogatási jegyzőkönyv már második védőszentként feltünteti Szent Annát. 1867. szeptember 2-án tűzvész pusztította el a templom tetejét: a helyreállítás nyomán kapta a templomtető és a torony a jelenlegi formáját. 1954-ben Steffek Albin freskóival díszítődött a templom belvilága; ezek témái: Angyali üdvözlet, Mária látogatása Erzsébetnél, A kis Jézus születése, Szent Imre herceg, Árpádházi Szent Erzsébet, Mennyekbe felvett Királyné. Színes üvegablakai 1986-87-ben készültek, Mohay Zoltán és Závori Zoltán festőművész munkái; témáik: Szent István, Szent László, Szent Margit, Batthyány-Strattmann László és Maximilian Kolbe.
