Cross

sacred architecture

1884

Restored cross made of artificial stone, standing at the intersection. As the inscription indicates, it was erected in 1884, as a way to express thanks to God and in his glory, so we do not know the exact reason for its creation. Perhaps it was only a sign of strong faith or showing the importance of four villagers. The inscription: »Bogi na hvalo i diko szo dali gori posztaviti Hozian Peter Hozian Istvan Zsalig Marko Hozian Janošni 1884«, which means that for the glory of God and as gratitude (this cross) was erected by Peter Hozjan, Štefan Hozjan, Marko Žalig and the wife of Janez Hozjan. The cross is part of folk art.
