The chapel of Felsőszölnök, named after St. John the Baptist is known from the 14th century (1377). We can read about the restoration of the church in the 1794 visitation report. In 1915 it consisted of a lower part and a taller part, surrounded by a wooden fence, its tower covered with shingles and the church covered with tiles. In 1938, the old church was partially demolished and enlarged. The 34th Eucharistic World Congress was held in Budapest at that time. Two glass windows and the paintings in the dome commemorate this event. Above the sanctuary there is a Slovenian inscription: Hvalite gospoda vsi narodi. (All nations shall praise the Lord.) The church exterior was renovated in 2019.
