Lajos Kuntár’s monograph about his native village has three parts. The “first book” contains the author's journalistic writings with biographical aspects. The “second book” is nearly 150 pages long. Referring to archival sources, he describes the history of the settlement from the Middle Ages to the end of the 20th century, describing social and economic conditions, education, and most of all the lifestyle of the people. Kuntár also recorded local legends, beliefs, and holiday-related customs. The “third book” relates about the villagers and Lajos Kuntár’s own memories. Especially valuable are the memories of World War II and of the deportations to forced labor camps in the 1950s.
