The castle was built in Baroque style in the 18th century. Around 1870 it was remodeled in eclectic style, later, around 1920, it was converted to Art Nouveau style. It has been a social welfare home since 1951. The inside has been completely redesigned, with only a few old doors, the library and chapel room remaining, as well as the count's bathroom with a huge white marble bath-tube.
The castle park also contains exotic species. The park features a pedunculate oak planted to commemorate the visit of the American Bishop Darlington. The park boasts the tallest stock of beech trees (40 m) in Vas County, and the largest and oldest (300 years old) tulip tree in Hungary.
