Painful Mother statue with Christ’s casket in Egervölgy

The Deposition statue is located on the top of the three-level statue. On the second level, there are two kneeling angels and two female figures at the column of the statue, the holy women going to the tomb of Jesus. At the very bottom there is Christ in the tomb with three angels floating above the body. The statue’s column reads as follows: “O, grievous Mother of God, alleviate our souls / sorrow / Seven sorrows of your holy heart may give us comfort / The five deep wounds of our Holy Son / May be our soul’s rest.” and “For the glory of God and / For the honor of the blessed Virgin Mary / erected by Mary Welladits / 1917)”.

Specialist description

A három szintű szobor tetején a Piéta magasodik. A második szinten, a Piéta oszlopánál két térdeplő angyal és két női figura - bizonyára a Jézus sírjához menő szent asszony - áll. Legalul a sírba tett Krisztus látható, a test fölött három angyal lebeg. A Piéta oszlopán a következő olvasható: „Oh kesergő Istenanya enyhítsd lelkünk /bánatát/ Szentszívednek hét fájdalma nyújtson bő /vigasztalást/ Szentfiadnak öt mély sebe /Legyen lelkünk nyughelye". Valamint: „Isten dicsőségére és a bodogságos/ Szűz Mária tiszteletére emeltette /Welladits Mária/1917".
