The Grad Castle is the largest castle building in Slovenia. It is first mentioned in sources in 1271 as Limbuh, but for a long time it was called Felsőlendva. It is surrounded by a spacious courtyard built on top of a hill with a terrace. Traces of numerous alterations and extensions can be found from Romanesque wall remnants in the central part of the castle to the Gothic castle wall, the Renaissance knight's hall, the baroque towers, the three levels of courtyards and chapels, to the 19th-century renovations. The castle is surrounded by an English-style park. It was owned by members of the Amadé-Gutkelet, Széchy, Batthyány, Nádasdy, Diettrichstein, Almossy, Széchenyi and Hartner families.
