Štefan Benko was one of the richest farmers in Tešanovci. In addition to his extensive estates, he also owned a restaurant and a slaughterhouse. He was one of the first farmers in the Prekmurje Region to trade in animals. The slaughterhouse was small, but he also sold meat in Graz, Vienna and Budapest. After moving to Murska Sobota in 1913, he transferred his catering and butchery business there. In the 1920s, his son, Josip (Jožef) Benko, took over the trade, and developed it from a small slaughterhouse to a modern slaughterhouse and meat factory. After the owner of the factory was executed in 1945, the factory was nationalized and became the Pomurka Mesna industrija factory.
